Part of a loutrophoros decorated in the red-figure technique. It was found in 1957 at the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in two fragments and was pieced together.

It depicts a groom getting ready before the wedding, a theme that does not occur as often as other wedding scenes. The bearded man is wearing a himation decorated with black motifs and has a thin band on his hair. He turns his head towards a small Eros, a symbol of the newlyweds’ transition to married life, who flies towards him with outstretched arms. Behind the groom a woman is discerned holding a small box.
